You're Late; You're Late for a Very Important Date!

The Malice in Wonderland Exhibition at Sewerby Hall is getting great reviews but sadly it will end on Sunday 31st July - that is less than two weeks!

So if you haven't already seen it, go and have a look before it's too late!

Sir Peter Blake

Yesterday I attended the preview of   one of my favourite artists of all time - Sir Peter Blake (Born 1932) familiarly known as the Grandfather of British Pop and legend to all young aspiring artists. I was lucky enough to attend a lecture given by him when I was at university and afterwards he dutifully sat whilst an enormous queue of students waited for his signature.

Viewing his works again I became deeply inspired and found parallels with my own work. Satirically mocking my need to be autonomous with my work I find that he as well as David Hockney (another favourite) both created works themed on children’s literature, Peter Blake being inspired by Lewis Carroll (early 1970’s) and David Hockney by the Brothers Grimm fairy tales(1969). However my work is substantially different to their own take on the works but I somehow feel my creations to date are like a rite of passage for the young creative mind.

This edges me to go forth and create so that one day perhaps a young artist will esteem me in such a godlike fashion!
