Macmillan's Biggest Coffee Morning

On Friday 27th of September I was privileged to be part of Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning at Rag’s Restaurant in Bridlington. This is one of Macmillan's biggest fundraising events were people across the UK hold a coffee morning. All donations on the day are made to Macmillan and in 2012 115,000 people signed up, raising a record £15 million.

My contribution to the event was some lovely home baked goods to go with coffee which I hope people enjoyed! I made Raspberry Swiss Rolls and Lemon Drizzle Slices!

I also had my own stall alongside the local gifting shop Serendipity; we all had a lovely time and met some great people. All in all Rags Restaurants event raised £340.88 which I think is an amazing amount of money going to a very good cause.

Lots of Previews!!!

It seems this weekend that everyone along the Yorkshire Coast was having art previews and so for the art lover out there, there were lots of previews to choose from!

Friday 6th September was also the evening of my group exhibition at Ga11ery Eleven in Filey; the ‘untitled’ exhibition is an eclectic mix of anything from seascapes to liquorice Allsorts! The atmosphere was amazing as the gallery was full to the brim; I haven’t been to a preview this packed out in a while so it was great to be part of.

Lots of lovely wine and nibbles!

The exhibition is featuring some of my original artworks alongside my gifting range. Also exhibited is work by Wendy Tate, Caroline Thompson and many more. The exhibition is now on display until Saturday 30th November!

This weekend I also visited another preview on Saturday 7thSeptember featuring the work of two lovely artists Angela Chalmers and Bren Head amongst others at Gallery Forty-Nine in Bridlington. I attended university with Angela so I am very familiar with her beautiful works but I haven’t seen Bren’s work many times before. I was captivated by the haunting beauty of her work and certain areas where the paint layers were striped back and reapplied which gave amazing texture. ‘Bodyscape’ is now on until 28th September.

If you didn't make the previews then there is plenty of time to go and view the exhibitions!
