My Lastest Work!

Red Riding Hood Visits the Supermarket | Mixed Media on Canvas | Leanne Broadbent

This is a contemporary take on the traditional tale of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Through this I explored the changes in society since the original story was written/ spoken. One thing that was apparent other than a slight change in family values was the way that in the past we would bake our goods to take to grandmas and today we are more likely to buy from the supermarket. Consequently, I had the thought to use this theory and illustrate it in a modern image of Red Riding Hood!
I would like to say a big thank you to the manager and staff at the Bridlington branch of Morrison’s Supermarket for being so kind putting up with my odd request to use the store as a model to assist my art work.
And finally I hope you like my new work!

An Enjoyable Evening

On the eve of the Queens Golden Jubilee weekend celebrations I attended a different type of celebration – the preview of the East Coast Artists exhibition (Back o’ the Shop Gallery, Terrington), revealing eleven selected artists from the East Coast of Yorkshire.

The evening was very well attended considering the circumstances and the guests I conversed with were extremely pleasant. The exhibition itself was exceptional, curated by artist Shelley Hughes who with such an eclectic range of artistic styles, mediums and subject matter managed to bring together a fabulously coherent exhibition, and one which I am proud to be part of.

The exhibition is now open to the public continuing until 25th August 2012 (see www.backotheshop.co.uk for further details). I am certain that this exhibition would please every individuals taste and definitely worth a visit if you are in or around the York area.
