Artists We Want YOU! A Charity Auction for 'The Sick Children's Trust'

Earlier this month it was brought to my attention a very worthy venture to raise money for The Sick Children’s Trust. I was asked if I would donate a piece of art work for this cause to be auctioned off at an event in Bridlington at the beginning of April. After hearing more about this scheme I agreed and now I am hoping more local artists (Yorkshire based) will join in and make a donation of original art for this event.

In November 2013 Paul Dobson a senior dental technician at Westwood Laboratory Ltd in Driffield, (East Yorkshire) is going to trek to Base Camp Everest to raise money for the charity ‘The Sick Children’s Trust’. This charity is close to Paul’s heart as in March 2012 his grandson was suddenly taken ill with Intussusception and taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

At this time it was Eckersley House a home away from home that provided the family with a place to stay close to the hospital relieving the family of the added stress of travelling to and from hospital.

Eckersley House was introduced to the public as part of ‘The Sick Children’s Trust’. This is the longest serving charity providing home from home accommodation in the UK. There are currently 7 houses like this one offering clean and comfortable accommodation where the whole family can stay to be close to their sick child’s bedside. While staying at one of these homes is free of charge the charity incurs a total cost of £30.00 per bedroom per night. They are not funded by the government and depend upon donations.

Paul hopes to raise £4000.00 for the charity from his trek which will help towards continuing this essential service. Donations can be made be donated directly to; virginmoneygiving.com/PaulDobson53

And if you are an artist what are you waiting for! Please email me at leanne@leannebroadbent.com if you are interested in making a donation for the fund raising auction.

New News

Just before Christmas I had some very good news! I had applied to the Chrysalis Arts team to be included in their annual highly esteemed event – North Yorkshire Open Studios. And yes I got accepted!

The event ruins in June 2013 and I will be one of 124 successful artists show casing their work across North Yorkshire. I have a wonderful venue and lots of fantastic ideas to wow all of my lovely visitors – I really can’t wait!

I will give you all more details nearer to the event but for now that will just have to do!
