Filming with Scarborough TV News

Whilst I was participating in the North Yorkshire Open Studios Event a new company called “Scarborough News TV” asked if they could come and film me whilst I was on site at the Beiderbecke’s Hotel in Scarborough.

The Managing Director/ Presenter Martin Atterbury and Technical Director including cameraman Paul Atterbury are a father and son team who seek out local news alongside Director John Clayton, covering a range of local stories including events - which is where I feature!
On the day (Friday 14th June) I was a little bit nervous before they arrived as I sometimes have a habit of forgetting what I am talking about! However, I shouldn’t have been as when they arrived they were all very friendly and put me at ease straight away. In the clip, I talk to Martin about my artwork, products, career and future plans/ exhibitions.
I had an enjoyable experience and found them lovely, interesting people to talk to. I even took some sneaky pictures whilst Paul (cameraman) was taking some close up shots of my work.

And if you follow this link to their website, you will go directly to the film in which I feature:
I hope you enjoy it!

Ga11ery Eleven in Filey

The Gallery & The Event!

On Sunday the 30th June I was one of three creative people asked to be present at Ga11ery Eleven (Filey) to talk to and discuss our work with the visitors. The Gallery is situated in a separate room inside a family run Post Office; it is a light space helped by the wonderfully tall elaborate windows and is full with an eclectic mix of work and treasures. The event itself was arranged by the very lovely Fiona Clibbens co-owner of the Post Office who also manages the Gallery and creates a lot of the artwork herself.

Other Creative People!
Peggy Fairburn is based in Beverley and creates patchwork and quilting was also present exhibiting her creations. She too is a charming lady who is very interesting to talk to; her work which takes many hours of painstaking attentiveness is equal in beauty and charm. Alongside her finished pieces she also had swatches available to show the different stages of creation to the visitors. Her work is available to purchase via Ga11ery Eleven and on her website.

I also met Claire Hall an author who was there to sign her new book: Mephisto: Friends, Family & Feathers. The main character in her book is a cat named Mephisto:

“In the course of his daily computer time, Mephisto uncovers events that affect him and his community. Things begin to turn darker when a provider (human) he feels close to is found dead in some fly-tipped rubbish. To make matters worse, the longstanding truce with the rats in in danger of collapse. Using his skills Mephisto sets about helping the providers uncover who is responsible.”

Claire known on her book cover as EJC Hall is also a lovely and interesting lady to talk to. Her book can be purchased via Ga11ery Eleven and also through Amazon Kindle or Amazon Paperback.

All in all I had a lovely day, the sun was shining, I made a few sales, I met some really lovely people and now I am also stocking Ga11ery Eleven in Filey!

Sneaky Peak of North Yorkshire Open Studios!

Well it has been very hectic for me over the last week!

I’ve been interviewed for BBC Radio Humberside in a conversation with the very lovely Phil White which broadcasted on Monday 3rd June and I have also been interviewed by Yorkshire Coast Radio which will air on Saturday 8th June all to promote North Yorkshire Open Studios an event that I will be taking participating in beginning on Saturday 8th June.

Yesterday I was using my muscles transporting art work from my studio to the Beiderbecke Hotel in Scarborough and today I have been hanging my art work and erecting my mini installations!

Here is a sneaky peak of the function room at Beiderbecke’s Hotel where I will be working from (Saturday 8th –Sunday 16th June) in its various stages of completion but I haven't shown every thing you'll just have to come and see for yourselves!

My new Art Work Showing at North Yorkshire Open Studios

So far this has been a very creative one for me and luckily the ideas keep on flowing - long may it continue!

Here is a new work that I created at the beginning of the year with the North Yorkshire Open Studios event in mind. As the open studios event is in June I wanted to create something that was colourful and naturally my thoughts led to Alice in Wonderland. This is the second new art work from this theme that I have produced this year and will I be exhibiting them both for the first time from my NYOS venue!

This new artwork is titled ‘Alice in Pursuit’, a mixed media image on canvas.
I hope you like it!

Productivity!

If you have been following me recently you will know that this year I have had a surge of productivity! Literally, I’ve developed lots of new products!

I wanted to create a lovely affordable gifting range which I think I have achieved and therefore I have now turned my attention to my contemporary greeting card range by adding new stock.

The new range complements my ‘Alice’ card following the theme of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and has again been developed from my some of my original artworks.

You may have seen my card developed from the original image ‘The Mad Hatters Tea Party’ which arrived the other week but the latest greetings card has only just arrived and I am more than happy with how it has turned out!

The original image ‘She is a Flower with Messy Petals!’ was created in January this year and was created with the notion of it becoming a greeting card, which is an oddity in itself as I normally create artwork because I am inspired by a particular theme. The thought of a product normally comes afterwards when I look at an image with fresh eyes and evaluate it. Never-the-less I do believe it works as a card and I now leave you with the question  - which one of these greetings cards do you like the most?
