NYOS and Edible Art 2014!

I had a great first weekend for the North Yorkshire OpenStudios 2014 event based at Ga11ery Eleven in Filey! During the first day visitors enjoyed my edible art cupcakes! This was something I piloted back in 2010 at Reveal – Hull and East Riding Open Studios and I thought it time again to revive it and create cupcakes using my latest work (Don’t worry I baked fresh cupcakes!).

I thought the Ka-Pow image worked really well as a cupcake!

Unfortunately this weekend 14th /15th June there will be no cupcakes… however you will still be able to view my new artwork, products and I will still be here demonstrating my work and talking to all the lovely visitors! I may get some sweets if that will tempt you!

Urban Wonderland

My latest artwork has now been packed and is ready to go down to London! The artwork was created especially for the Guerilla Galleries for their April exhibition titled ‘Urban Life’.

Part of the brief stated: “this show hopes to present an honest look at life, love and survival in an urban environment…”
As my work is mainly inspired by children’s stories and childhood memories, I approached the artwork from this perspective. As all children adapt to their environment and view the world in wonderment I titled the piece ‘Urban Wonderland’. Therefore, it is a nonsensical mix of reality in an urban environment contrasted with child’s play, incorporating characters from stories such as ‘The Gruffalo’ and a magical theme from ‘Harry Potter’ alongside an urban backdrop, including the natural world living in the cities and other issues such as fly tipping.

However, look a little closer into the image and you may find other fun elements to make you smile, so why not take a closer look!

A new outlet!

I am very pleased to announce that I have a new stockist in Bridlington!

My new stockist ‘Behind the Times’ is a fantastic quirky shop situated in the middle of Bridge Street in Bridlington. The owner is a very lovely lady who makes most of the products herself. The shop obtains the ethos of embracing the beautiful vintage delights balanced with an array of beautiful handmade products.

Also to stock this fantastic shop is the lovely Lauren fromLauren Cherice Designs. Lauren takes her inspirations mainly from our indigenous wildlife and creates a beautiful home ware collection.

Now my whole gifting range can be seen too in this delightful shop, including greetings cards, eco bags, make-up bags, pocket mirrors and my newest design my coin purses. All my designs are created from adapting my original artwork which is mostly inspired by Children’s literature.

You-tube Video!

Do you want to see my first ever you-tube video?

The Guerilla Galleries team asked a few weeks ago if I would do them a 3 min video talking about myself and my work...

I had lots of help from a very special person in my life to do this, so I am very grateful (thank you)!

Let me know what you think!

New ArtWork 2014

Here is my latest artwork slightly inspired by this classic 1960’s American children’s book…

‘Where the Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak
I’ve always loved this story and have felt very inspired by it of late! If you are unfamiliar with the story, it follows the adventure of a little boy called Max, who one evening is very naughty after he begins playing in his wolf suit. His mother sends Max to his bed, but his bedroom turns into a forest and a boat appears taking him on a long journey to an island of wild things (it is a fantastic story so have a read if you haven’t already)!

My picture is titled ‘Diverted to Where the Wild Things Are’ and as always I have added my own twist of ghost like creatures looming in the background and also includes traffic cones and a road sign which I particularly love.

What do you think? I hope you like it! ;)

My New Product 2014!

I am very pleased to announce the arrival of my latest creation – My beautiful Canvas Coin Purses!!!

This delightful Canvas Coin Purse displays a screen printed design of my original image ‘Spring Awakening’ printed on one side of the bag.
As there are so many different colours in the world, which indicate so many different moods, feelings and expressions, I always find it difficult to decide when choosing just one for a product! I actually kind of love most colours to be honest but have favourites depending on if I am wearing it, if it is for a room in the home, if it is to depict a mood in a particular artwork, etc. So it actually takes me a long time to choose when reflecting on all of that! So… after asking the question ‘What is your favourite colour?’ to a vast group of people I found the most popular answer to be ‘Purple’ or tones of Purple so the colour of the image is Purple on a natural cream canvas bag with a white zip.

This environmentally friendly 'Bags of Ethics' product was manufactured in a Fair-trade Accredited, Ethically Audited, Carbon Neutral Factory. The reusable Make-up Bag is produced with eco-friendly inks on cotton.

The size of the Coin Purse is 12cm (w) x 9cm (h) (Approximate).
I love this new product as it fits in so well with other products within my range! I hope you love the product as much as I do!

New News for 2014!

Already this year I have been involved in the exhibition ‘Escape to Happiness’ at Guerilla Galleries – London! A small selection of the artwork is still available to view or buy online at: http://guerilla.recondo.co.uk/tag/leanne-broadbent/

I am now working on a brand-new design to launch this year! I’m still in the design stages working on colour but it should be completed soon (you’ll be first to view the product when it is finished!).

I also found out just before Christmas that I had been selected again for the North Yorkshire Open Studios 2014 event in June – more details will be shared closer to the event!

But for now I would like to wish all of my followers a Happy New Year and best wishes to you all ;)
